Iain McGilchrist!

May I introduce you all to someone I have never met. Iain McGilchrist may be the humblest and most profoundly intelligent person I have never met!  He believes the source of our demise is not left hemisphere brain thinking specifically, but the preponderance of left-brain function! “That’s good so I shall take lots of that” kind of brain function. “Plastic makes our lives convenient and easier, so let’s make lots of it” without thinking of the ramifications of that and what else it means for our world. Cars can get us from one point to another, we can all own one, but what are the ramifications of that? Air Pollution. Meat tastes good, lets grow cows for everyone to eat and make lots of money selling them.  Not thinking about what it will do to both our atmosphere and our health. We all need to learn how to access the imaginative and holistic side of our brain...the Right Hemisphere.

Now we know the ramifications of all of the bad things we created, but are so used to having those things and stuck in that kind of thinking, that we think are unable to change.

We are able to change. But good luck convincing all of us to think that way in the next couple of hundred years or less. In other words, it may be too late. Honestly, it seems we are fucked. Not in my lifetime, but possibly very soon. We keep making the same mistakes. We all see it. We all see it coming. Yet we do not change. We all need to have these conversations and quick.  Iain McGilchrist may just be our Messiah. Who cares who the fuck it is? He doesn’t care if it’s him. He just cares and sees it coming. This guy has answers and they are not easy. They require deep thought, love, empathy, real relationships, beauty, art, loving our natural world, and wonderful imagination. Listen to this man!
